Hi there! Welcome to my blog

I’m Hayley and I like to make cool warm things!

I make crochet blanket patterns on hookedwithhayley.com and sell blankets locally. I’m a mum of 5 (4 boys and 1 girl) and have been crocheting and knitting for years.

I’m going to break my blog up into 3 sections; Works in Progress (WIPs), Finished Items and New Things.

WIPs

I have a few WIPs this month (and not many finished items, but I’ll get to that later. My first WIP, which if you’ve been following me on social media, you’ll have seen some updates, is the Elvis blanket. I’m making slow but steady progress on it. I’m really pleased that I chose a colour for the background of this one and didn’t just go for a grey background. I think the blue really makes his face pop.

My second work in progress is the corner to corner cardigan. I haven’t had any time to work on this one this month, but thought I’d share the photo anyway. I have the back done and I’m working on one of the front pieces. I think this will be a ‘take with me’ project that I can take out with me when I go somewhere because it’s quite easy and simple to work on

My last work in progress is a jumper I started working on after I went to my local shop to buy more hooks so I could teach the kids how to crochet. Long story short they’ve been on at me for a few weeks to teach them how to crochet. We’ll be having a go this weekend. (Pray for me, there’s 5 of them) But, whilst I was at the shop I saw this beautiful yarn and just couldn’t stop myself from buying it. I started to make this jumper in my usual size but it ended up too big so had to restart and make in a smaller size. (The joys of losing weight and not measuring yourself)

Finished Items

I’ve not had a lot of time to crochet this month because I’ve been working on the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff. But one thing I have finished is my Free Crochet Course. I decided that I really wanted to share my love of crochet with everyone so I’m offering the chance to get the first 2 modules of the Ultimate C2C Crochet course for free! I figured this would be a great start for anyone who wants to learn how to crochet. This was quite time consuming to set up as I’m not the most technical person, but after a few issues with the emails I’ve finally got it sorted out and I’m super excited to share it with you guys. New Things

The only new thing I have this month is the yarn I bought for my jumper. Although, I did buy a 12mm hook whilst I was picking up the hooks for the kids and the new yarn. What would you make with such a large hook? I was thinking about maybe using multiple strands of double knitting weight yarn and trying to make an exercise mat. I realise it might end up sliding around the floor but I only really use it for when I’m doing sit ups and leg raises so I figure it would be ok for that and probably more comfortable
